i got a blackberry! what if...
since i was a teenager i've been fascinated by blackberries: a first glimpse of what would turn into smartphones (i had either a nokia n73 or a sony-ericsson k610i) with a full qwerty keyboard, allowing you to message people as if you were using a desktop computer... but in your pocket!
for years i've been leaving it on the side because it was just a unnecessary silly whim after all, looking at how cool were some of the stuff that was being released on this space, like the samsung galaxy S8 keyboard cover; i didn't need it in the end. but i couldn't stop thinking about it over the years, daydreaming about having a qwerty keyboard as my main device somehow, and well, finally made it!
blackberry classic for 50€, not bad
i've been keeping an eye at blackberry classics (q20) on second hand apps and such, but never really pressed the trigger. then this february i replaced my gpu with a nvidia 5070 ti so my bf could inherit the 2070 and retire the 1060 (it worked great but is ancient tech at this point) and sold it for 50€.
that money stayed in my wallapop account for half a year, but this week i found a classic for 50€ in pretty good conditions, box and everything so couldn't help but to bit the bite. it has its limitations (it's a blackberry os 10 device from 2014 after all, not even android!) but fuck me if i'm not trembling in excitement for it to come home already!!
for now i plan it to be my companion device, it can't replace all my iphone 11 functions but it'll be fun to play with. light web browsing, lots of tinkering and even writing here, just for the sake of it! i find writing on a touchscreen bothersome, but maybe i can finally just zone out and blog a bit more out of my desktop computer.
